The Art of Pressed Flower Jewellery: Nature Preserved in Resin

The Art of Pressed Flower Jewellery: Nature Preserved in Resin

There's something captivating about pressed flower jewellery. Real flowers, carefully preserved in crystal-clear resin, creating wearable art that captures a moment in nature. It's delicate, meaningful, and completely unique – no two pieces ever look identical because, well, nature doesn't work that way.

How Pressed Flower Jewellery is Made

The process starts with real flowers. We carefully select and press them, preserving their shape and colour. This isn't a quick process – flowers need time to dry properly while maintaining their beauty using silica crystals or even in the microwave using special absorbing equipment.

Once pressed, the flowers are meticulously arranged and encased in high-quality resin. This is where the skill comes in. The resin needs to be crystal-clear, bubble-free, and perfectly set to showcase the flowers inside. Each piece is hand-poured and finished, which is why every necklace, pair of earrings, or bangle is genuinely one-of-a-kind.

The bubbles are eliminated by placing the uncured pieces in a pressure pot with just enough pressure to squash the bubbles so they're invisible to the naked eye but not too much pressure so as to ruin the design.

Why Real Flowers Matter

We could use artificial flowers or printed images. It would be easier, more consistent, more predictable. But it wouldn't be the same.

Real pressed flowers have texture, natural colour variations, and organic shapes that can't be replicated. They're imperfect in the most beautiful way. One petal might be slightly darker, another might have a unique curve – these aren't flaws, they're what make each piece special.

When you wear pressed flower jewellery, you're wearing an actual piece of nature. That matters to people.

The Uniqueness Factor

Because we use real flowers, no two pieces are ever identical. Even if we make two necklaces with the same type of flower, they'll look different. The petals arrange differently, the colours vary slightly, the overall effect is unique.

This is handmade jewellery in its truest form – not just made by hand, but inherently individual because of the natural materials involved.

Symbolism and Meaning

Flowers have always carried meaning. Different blooms represent different sentiments – love, friendship, remembrance, new beginnings. Pressed flower jewellery takes that symbolism and makes it wearable.

We've made pieces for people wanting to remember a special garden, or simply wear something that represents nature and growth. The meaning you attach to it is personal, and that's exactly the point.

Caring for Pressed Flower Jewellery

Resin is durable, but like any jewellery, it benefits from a bit of care. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight (which can fade the flowers over time), take it off before swimming or showering, and store it somewhere safe when you're not wearing it.

Treat it well, and your pressed flower jewellery will last for years, preserving that moment of natural beauty indefinitely.

Clean with soap and water.

Why People Love It

Pressed flower jewellery appeals to people who appreciate nature, value uniqueness, and want something with meaning. It's not fast fashion or mass-produced tat – it's thoughtful, beautiful, and made with care.

Every piece we create is handmade in our Manchester studio, and every one tells a slightly different story because of the natural materials involved. That's the beauty of working with real flowers – you're collaborating with nature, not controlling it.

If you're drawn to botanical designs, appreciate handmade craftsmanship, or simply want jewellery that's genuinely one-of-a-kind, pressed flower resin pieces might be exactly what you're looking for.
