What You'll Create

You'll make a bespoke sterling silver ring featuring a gemstone held in place by elegant claw settings – the same technique used in fine jewellery. This isn't a simple band; you'll learn advanced silversmithing skills including soldering, stone setting, and professional finishing techniques. You'll leave with a unique piece of jewellery you've made entirely with your own hands.

The Experience

This is a proper working workshop in our Manchester studio – bring old clothes and prepare to get hands-on. We'll start with practice on copper before moving to silver, so you'll build confidence before working with precious metal. You'll choose your own gemstone and learn how to set it securely using traditional claw-setting techniques.

Our experienced silversmith will guide you through each step, from health and safety basics to advanced finishing touches. By the end of day two, you'll have mastered skills that many jewellers take months to learn, and you'll have a beautiful ring to prove it.

Claw Setting Workshop - current option you're reading (2 days, £275): A more advanced course where you'll learn to create delicate claw settings (like engagement rings). This takes longer as you'll fabricate the claw assembly from wire and master more intricate soldering techniques.
